AHC Director Training

 

Seafood Industry Training

Te Ohu Kaimoana and SITO (Seafood Industry Training Organisation) have teamed up to provide fisheries management training for AHC directors.

Training covers commercial fisheries topics including:

  • An overview of the NZ Seafood Industry
  • How the NZ Quota Management System works
  • ACE Trading

The training is targeted to AHC directors, MIO representatives, and management and administration staff with fisheries management and administration responsibilities.

Training is provided in main north and south island centres.

Fisheries Scholarships

If you are interested in undertaking formal training in a fisheries related qualification, you may be eligible for financial assistance from Te Putea Whakatipu Trust.  Training scholarships are available for approved courses in New Zealand and overseas.

The scholarships provide a 50 per cent contribution toward course costs.  The applicant is required to obtain the other 50 per cent contribution from their iwi.

Directors should consider the training provided by other training providers such as:

  • NZ Institute of Directors
    NZIOD has training for new through to very experience directors see www.iod.org.nz
  • NZ Trade and Enterprise
    NZTE has Maori Trustee training that may be useful for morethan just the MIO or ACE directors. It also has business training and information and expertise on international markets.
